Specialist in Periodontics

Dr Elisa Agudo

BDS, MCLINDENT (PERIO), MFDS RCS

Elisa qualified in her home city, Madrid, in 2005. She then continued her training while working as a general dentist and obtained a Certificate in Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation (ESORIB, Madrid and NYU) in 2007 and a Diploma in Endodontics (CEU, Valencia) in 2008. She then relocated to Wales, where she worked as a general dentist for the NHS.

She later moved to London and enrolled in the three-year full-time MClinDent in Periodontology at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, which she completed with Distinction in 2011. In the same year, she was awarded a certificate in Periodontics from the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP).

Having completed her specialist training, Eli worked in the restorative dentistry department at the UCL Eastman Dental Hospital in London from 2011 to 2019. She was employed as a Speciality Doctor and then promoted to Consultant in Periodontics.

Eli has worked as a Specialist in Periodontics in private practice in Brighton for 13 years and established the Link House Specialist Dental Centre in 2025.

Eli is registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist Periodontist.

Specialist in Prosthodontics

Dr Mike Heffernan

Michael is a specialist in prosthodontics who has won several awards for his aesthetic dentistry work. He has lectured on implant dentistry both in the UK and internationally.

Michael is a specialist in prosthodontics, which is the cosmetic and functional improvement of teeth, smiles and bites. His ethos is to offer a kind, gentle approach, genuinely listening to the patient’s expectations and then tailoring an appropriate plan.

Michael has always enjoyed the aesthetic and practical side of dentistry and has won several awards for his work at the Aesthetic Dentistry Smile Awards. There are very few dentists to have been awarded the coveted first prize. His wins include Interdisciplinary Smile, Single Implant Smile, Restorative Case Full Mouth & Denture Case Full Overdenture.

Michael qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 1990. He trained in the maxillofacial surgery unit for two years at Royal Surrey County Hospital and then went on to teach in the undergraduate program at the University of Sydney, becoming a clinical associate. He then enrolled in a three-year, full-time master’s degree program at the University of Iowa (USA) in fixed, removable and implant-retained prosthodontics. His research into aesthetic ceramic materials won first place in the research prize from the American College of Prosthodontists.

He was then awarded a scholarship at the University of Florida for a dedicated implant fellowship. In 2002, he returned to the UK to run a specialist practice in Harley Street. Michael is also on the USA Embassy list of US-trained dentists for recommendation to US nationals in the UK.

Michael continues his interest in academics as well as the practical side of dentistry. He has lectured nationally and internationally on implant dentistry and has recently been involved in research with the Dental School at the University of Illinois (USA) and the University of Birmingham (UK) on novel treatments for tooth decay. He writes regular dental articles for the Daily Telegraph and has been featured on the BBC for his expert dental opinion.

Mike is registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist Prosthodontist.

Specialist in Endodontics

Dr Alex Mustard

BDS, MFDS RCS, MSC (ENDO), MENDO RCSED

Alex graduated from the Glasgow University Dental School in 1997, working in general dental practice for 10 years before spending two working with children and adults with special needs at Kings College Dental Institute.

He gained an MSc in endodontics in 2008 with a distinction at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute,  followed by a Membership in Endodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Alex worked as a Consultant at the Eastman Dental Hospital, managing patients with complex endodontic problems. He taught postgraduate dentists on the MSc and MClinDent programs in Endodontics.

Alex served for five years as a Member of the Board of Examiners for the MSc, MClinDent and Specialist Endodontic Training Programmes. In 2017, the postgraduate students of University College London nominated him for an outstanding teaching award.

He currently works as a Consultant at King’s College Dental Hospital.

In 2013, he became the first dentist from 12,000 members of UCLH staff to be a finalist for the Celebrating Excellence ‘Kindness to Patients’ Award. His peers described him as having “the heart of a true clinician and teacher who treats his patients with the utmost care and attention.”

Alex is registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist Endodontist and is a Consultant in Endodontics at King’s College Dental Hospital.
